Ascot has a proud tradition of providing memorable camping experiences for students in years 6, 7 & 8.
Year 6 Camp – Tautuku Lodge
Tautuku Lodge, with it’s bush setting and nearby beaches provides a wonderful base for exploring the Catlins. Students experience the spectacular Cathedral Caves, a forest confidence course, bush walks, the Nugget Point lighthouse and the fascinating Owaka Museum.
Year 7 Camp – Borland Lodge
Borland Lodge is situated at the gateway to Fiordland National Park. Students work with DOC rangers to learn about conservation, go kayaking and rock climbing with instructors from Adventure Southland, learn archery, mountain bike down the Borland Saddle and explore the unforgettable Clifden Caves.
Year 8 Camp – Deep Cove Hostel
Deep Cove Hostel is in the heart of Fiordland National Park, at the top of Doubtful Sound. Only accessible by boat, this amazing spot has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Students walk the ‘Hanging Valley’, visit the power station, go fishing and encounter native birds and animals such as the Kea and the Yellow Eyed Penguin. Department of Conservation rangers work with the students to increase their knowledge of nature and the environment around them.
